(From sharing with us in 2016, & mission description from our ACTS website)
Our names are Lindy and Carol Drake. Our Mission Ethnos 360 works with tribes in South America. We have a Bible translation, and church planting ministry among the Guanano people of Colombia and Brazil. 1n 1986 we began working with a Guanano indian village named Taina, in Colombia on the banks of the Vaupes River, which forms the border between Colombia and Brazil. For 10 years we lived among the Guanano people, learned their language, their culture, and began to teach them the Gospel, chronologically Genesis through the ascension of Christ. At the end of that teaching period, as we proclaimed the meaning of the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord, a small group of believers was born. Shortly afterwards, we were forced to abandon our homes in Taina because of Marxist insurgents who began operating in the area. In 2000 we moved to Brazil, and settled into a small jungle town called São Gabriel da Cachoeira, two days travel from the Colombian border. We began ministering to the Guanano families that we found there, and soon a second small group of believers was formed. We continue to direct weekly church services with this group. We have trained Guanano men to do the Bible teaching in these services.
We have completed the Bible translation of the Old Testament portions we use to teach chronologically from Genesis through the life of Christ, providing the Guanano church a complete New Testament (published by Wycliffe Bible Translators) with enough of the Old Testament providing an understanding of God’s Redemptive Story.
We minister among unreached people groups: In 2,500 of the world’s 6,500 people groups, there is no church, nor is there any work being done to establish a church.
We work in the tribal culture and language: These tribes’ cultures and languages have isolated them from the Gospel.
We present foundational Bible teaching: Unreached people groups have no concept of the God of the Bible. Chronological Bible teaching presents a foundation for understanding Jesus’ death and resurrection.
We establish mature churches: Following the pattern seen in Acts as God’s people carried out the Great Commission, missionaries seek to establish mature churches.
